At a distance of 31 km north-west of Antalya lies the Karain Cave. At the edge of Katran Mountain rangeon the border of Ya?cy village, the limestone formations opened up to reveal a natural cave which hadserved as habitatitons for the paleolithic, neolithic and halcolithic peoples and during the classic era, asa temple to the mountain goddess The Greek inscription on the outher surface and niches testify to this.Digs have been continuing there since 1946. These have revealed a settlement at that sport 50,000 yearsago. It is the largest cave in Turkey to have been inhabited. Some of the findings are on display inthe little Karain Museum and others in the pre-history section of Antalya Museum.
